Kevin Scarbinsky of the Birmingham News writes that there’s a new Riverboat Gambler in the SEC, and it’s not Tommy Tubberville.
After Jarrett Lee’s terrific second half against Auburn, it appears that he’s asserted himself as the number one quarterback over Andrew Hatch.
“Obviously football is merit-based and (Lee) had a hell of a game,” Miles said. He later added that there is a “responsibility to play the best player.”
Tailback Charles Scott continues to break tackles and was rewarded with the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
Randy Rosetta of The Advocate offers an interesting take on the imprint Les Miles has left on the LSU program:
Yeah, there were a lot of bodies remaining on the Tigers’ 2007 roster that Saban and his staff lured to town, although it’s arguable that a good chunk of them would have come no matter who the coach was. But the hearts, minds and souls of the team that persevered and seized a second opportunity hwne it arrived, those were Miles’ players.
