Kentucky may be 3-0, but don’t think coach Rich Brooks or his players are pleased with the start.

“We’re not happy with where we are,” Brooks said. “We know that we can get better, and we have to get better because we know what’s ahead of us.”

After using their bye week to reevaluate the depth chart, the Wildcats host Western Kentucky on Saturday before beginning their real season.

“If we continue to play the way we played (against MTSU), we’re not going to win those SEC games,” said linebacker Braxton Kelley. “If we don’t practice fast and play fast in the game and come out on top with a huge victory over (WKU), then we’re going to have struggles.”

Judging from defensive end Ventrell Jenkins’ refreshingly honest comments, it’s safe to say that the Wildcats were able to refresh during their off week.

“Coach Brooks’ main emphasis was to stay out of trouble, don’t get behind bars or anything,” Jenkins said. “So I accomplished that.”

Jenkins added that he followed Brooks’ advice to rest over the weekend by staying home and “being lazy” and watching football on TV.

“I felt I did that pretty well,” Jenkins said.

On a more serious note, here’s a few other nuggets from the article:

1) Injury update: Randall Cobb is out, while Micah Johnson and Ricky Lumpkin are “doubtful.” Braxton Kelley will move to the middle to replace Johnson. The Wildcats also welcome back starting left tackle Garry Williams.

2) There’s been some adjustments on the depth chart at wide receiver.

3) The kicking battle remains up in the air this week after Lones Seiber missed four of six attempts against MTSU.
