GEORGIA FOOTBALL NEWS – 11/17/08 (HO-HUM, GEORGIA WINS)

Permalink Tags:

Georgia’s hang-on-for-dear-life victory over Auburn was a nice companion game for last week’s hang-on-for-dear-life win over Kentucky, but it’s probably not doing much to soothe the feelings of Dawg fans who were hoping/EXPECTING a national championship this fall.

That said, Georgia is 9-2 due to two terrible halves of football (one against Bama, one against Florida) despite having lost significant playing time from up to seven starters.  “I think we’ve held up pretty good considering all the things that have happened,” said Mark Richt.  “We’ve found a way to win almost all of our games.”  That should count for something, but in Fan World, it probably won’t.

In addition to the injuries, this Bulldog team just went 3-1 through a stretch of four consecutive games away from Sanford Stadium.

David Ching of The Athens Banner-Herald realizes that he’s being a bit hard on the Bulldogs.  But he’s hard nonetheless, writing that UGa has “a team that is not living up to its billing.”

Here’s some more on the humdrum win over Auburn, including the game’s good, bad and ugly.

To lock up a probable Capital One Bowl bid, Georgia needs to figure out a way for their woeful defense to stop Georgia Tech’s run-crazy, option attack.
