It’s Friday, and that means it’s time for Chris Low’s SEC preview over at his ESPN.com blog.
Tennessee fans have been throwing a collective tantrum to get superstar Eric Berry on offense. This week head coach Phillip Fulmer indicated Berry had a shoulder problem that limited his offensive snaps.
Apparently, Berry also nixed the idea after suffering said injury on his only offensive snap against Alabama.
South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier says redshirt freshman quarterback Stephen Garcia is taking a back seat to Chris Smelley… again.
Here’s Mr. Low’s SEC Viewer’s Guide for the weekend:
1. Ole Miss defensive tackle Peria Jerry is quietly putting together a dominant season. Look for him to be a big factor in this weekend’s game with LSU.
2. The matchup between LSU’s offensive line and Ole Miss’ defensive line should be a good one.
3. Can Jevan Snead continue his hot streak against LSU?
4. Ole Miss tends to cough the football up at times. LSU can’t force turnovers. Something’s got to give.
5. Arkansas QB Casey Dick may miss this weekend’s game against Mississippi State with a concussion, but fear not Hog fans - you’ll still have a Dick lined up under center regardless. Casey’s younger brother, freshman Nathan Dick, will get the nod if his brother is unable to play.
6. Arkansas defensive tackle Malcolm Sheppard is having a dominant season, but nobody seems to know who the guy is.
7. Mississippi State head coach Sylvester Croom could be playing for his job the next couple of weeks.
8. Can Tennessee’s defense bail out it’s putrid offense against Vanderbilt? The unit has been outstanding this year, but the offense has proven to be too anemic to overcome.
9. Speaking of Vandy-UT, the Commodores might have more fans at the game in Nashville than Tennessee for the first time in recent memory.
10. How many points can Florida put up on the Citadel this weekend? You know Urban Meyer won’t take his foot off the gas.
And finally, Mr. Low’s weekend forecast:
Ole Miss 28, LSU 24
Vanderbilt 17, Tennessee 14
Arkansas 24, Mississippi State 21
Florida 49, The Citadel 0
