Obviously, the biggest story coming out of Auburn is the knee injury suffered by cornerback Aairon Savage… an injury that is scheduled to get a closer look from orthopedic specialists.
Defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads says that his already thin secondary will just have to step up.
“There’s no bigger burden on any corner or DB just because Aairon is down right now with an injured knee. If everybody in jerseys out here doesn’t feel the need to step up, then we’re not in the position that we think we are.”
And the player expected to step up and fill the void at corner is junior Walt McFadden.
This notes column reveals that offensive tackle Lee Ziemba has a strained knee and will undergo an MRI, even though Tommy Tuberville doesn’t think the injury is too serious.
DeRon Furr, a former quarterback, receiver and defensive back that had gone AWOL the past couple of days, has “decided to leave the football team” according to Tuberville.
And last, Auburn’s tight ends have gone from major blockers in Al Borges’ offense to inside receivers in Tony Franklin’s new spread.
