Hope you hadn’t bought into that internet rumor that Tommy Tuberville would be stepping down yesterday and accepting the Clemson head coaching job shortly. Mainly ’cause it didn’t play out. But I sure got a bunch of emails over it.
Tuberville’s assistants are trying to block out all of the rumors and rumbles that are heating up the Auburn airwaves. “Life’s too short for me to worry about all that junk,” said defensive tackles coach Don Dunn.
Receivers coach Greg Knox says he has “no doubt” that he’ll be back in 2009. That could be more about recruiting than anything. If Tuberville is back next year, you can expect SOME changes on the offensive staff.
Now, on to the real news from The Plains as Tennessee-Martin comes to town:
Auburn doesn’t wear orange jerseys anymore, but the Skyhawks will on Saturday. Tuberville agreed to dress his team in road whites for the game. A change couldn’t make the offense look any worse, I guess.
UT-Martin is actually ranked 20th in the nation at the FCS level (the old Division I-AA). They’re also loose coming into this game.
All-everything defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks injured his ankle against Ole Miss last week and that means more playing time for Jake Ricks this week.
