AUBURN FOOTBALL NEWS – 11/26/08

And here’s the Auburn side of the Iron Bowl news from today:

The injuries just keep on coming for the Tigers this year.  Now AU might be without their top place-kicker on Saturday.  Wes Bynum’s inflamed knee caused him to sit out yesterday’s practice.  If he can’t go, walk-on Morgan Hull will take his place.  Hull has never attempted a field goal for the Tigers.

It might not show in their team’s record, but several Auburn seniors exceeded the expectations set for them when they arrived on The Plains.

In the best laid plans department, this year’s Auburn squad was supposed to lean on the offense, not the defense.  So much for all that.

As if you haven’t heard this one before, the Tigers really need to improve in the red zone.

Quarterback Kodi Burns, who’ll make his first Iron Bowl start on Saturday, doesn’t sound like he’s intimidated at all by the idea of 92,000 screaming Bama fans at Bryant-Denny Stadium.  (And, yes, I realize not all 92,000 will be Bama fans, but you get the picture.)

“In any game you’ve got to have poise as a quarterback, especially a young quarterback,” Burns said.  “They’re going to try to throw some things at me that I haven’t seen.  That’s obvious.  I’m pretty much ready for that.”

Sounds good, but we’ll know a lot more by about 7:30 Saturday night.
