Coming off a 36-0 whitewashing of Auburn, it looks like Alabama still has one game left to play. I thinks it’s Florida, right?
Given the magnitude of the SEC Championship Game, we’re going to bring you TONS of stories each day. In order to get them all in, we’ll be delivering them as simple one-liners whenever possible.
Here you go:
Alabama will come into Saturday’s game with a 12-0 record and a #1 ranking. They’ll also come in as at least a touchdown underdog. And that doesn’t bother the Tide. (Yeah, right.)
Just because it’s the SEC title game, don’t expect Nick Saban to change his team’s routine in any way.
Florida and Alabama might have different styles (fast break versus pound-you-in-the-paint, if you will), but their principles and their results are similar.
“They’re going to have to match our style,” said Saban. “And we’re going to have to match their style.”
UF receiver Percy Harvin, who is always hurt it seems, is hurt once again. Harvin is questionable with an ankle injury.
“It’s going to be day-to-day,” Urban Meyer said of his receiver/running back. “He certainly won’t practice here the first copule of days. but he’s here today and he’s moving a little bit, so we’ll see what happens.”
The Gators are still good without Harvin, but there’s no question he would be a huge loss if he’s unavailable to play. In the last seven games, Harvin has touched the ball 50 times… he’s averaged 13.4 yards per touch and has scored 11 touchdowns.
Looking for a hidden key to the SEC Championship Game? Think “special teams.”
For Florida’s special teams units, it’s all about speed.
Saban actually let his guard down for a moment or two following Bama’s Iron Bowl win on Saturday. He said that this year’s team is “one of my favorites of all time in terms of guys to coach. I think everybody cares. Everybody cares. That’s the most important thing about this team.”
And while we’re talking about the Iron Bowl, here are 10 things you might have missed from Bama’s big win.
