Here’s the latest from Tuscaloosa, where Bama has an open date this weekend:
From high school rivals in Florida to teammates at Alabama… that’s the story of Javier Arenas and Marquis Johnson.
Alabama plays 5-6 Auburn in the Iron Bowl next week. Then they’ll play Florida in the SEC title game, possibly for a berth in the BCS national championship game. If you think the Florida game is bigger than the Auburn game, then you don’t understand Alabama football.
Mike Herndon of The Mobile Press-Register got Houston Nutt, Sylvester Croom, Phillip Fulmer, Les Miles and Bobby Petrino to compare Alabama to Auburn in preparation for next week’s Iron Bowl.
You know who likes the idea of having a head-coach-in-waiting? Nick Saban.
What is a coach worth? Millions and millions of dollars. Saban’s yearly salary of around $4 million seems a bargain when you take into consideration his team has caused a greater demand for tickets, which will lead to a stadium expansion, which will bring in about $9 million annually when it’s completed.
(By the way, how many Auburn fans perked up and how many Alabama fans puckered up when they saw that wad of cash, wondering if a story had broken about Bama cheating again? I’m guessing a bunch.)
