OUR TAKE: Judging from the pre-draft buzz, we expected Hendrix to be the third SEC player into the draft. So that part was a slight surprise. Hendrix going in the middle of the second round was not.
The Tuscaloosa News writes that Hendrix believes he’s landing on the right team. “The name Warriors is really what I think I am. I’m ready to go and give them what I have to offer.”
He then added, “Shootin’ at the walls of heartache, bang, bang… I am the Warrior.”
Bill Bryant of The Huntsville Times believes Golden State got a steal in Hendrix, but he also cautions Tide fans with some amazing statistics (30% of second round picks NEVER play in an NBA game and 70% are out of the league in five years time).
Mark Gottfried tells The Mobile Press-Register that Hendrix could very well have a great career, despite where he was drafted. “It’s no different than Mo Williams, who was a second round guy who has now signed a $52 million contract and starts for Milwaukee.”
Here’s video of a pre-draft workout that the Portland Trail Blazers conducted with Hendrix.
