OUR TAKE: Speights was projected anywhere from about 15th to 20th, so he went right where he was expected to go. His size (6′10) and his ability to play center or forward drove up his value.
The Gainesville Sun writes that Speights believes Philadelphia will be a good fit for him (he worked out for them on more than one occasion), but he still finds it hard to leave Florida.
Of course, a few million dollars might help to ease his pain.
The Tampa Tribune points out that last year, Florida had five members of their two-time national championship team drafted. This year, from their NIT squad, hey had only one — Speights.
