GEORGIA FOOTBALL NEWS - 11/28/08

Here are the headlines from the Peach State today, and they are numerous:

Legendary writer Furman Bisher of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recaps the history and lore of the Georgia-Georgia Tech series.

The longest winning streak in the series belongs to the Yellow Jackets from 1949 through 1956.  If Georgia wins their eighth in a row on Saturday, they will tie the Jackets' streak.

A statue of Vince Dooley will be unveiled prior to tomorrow's game with Tech.

What does Georgia have to be thankful about this holiday weekend?  Offensive weaponry.

Analyst Craig James of ESPN and ABC believes Georgia is in for "a great challenge" on defense.  "This isn't like Navy playing against Georgia.  This is Georgia Tech with Georgia Tech's athletes and Paul Johnson's offense playing against Georgia.  That's a big difference. ... And Florida State's defense with all the athletes they have over there, just got shellacked and totally confused by Georgia Tech's offense."

If Georgia wins their 10th game of the year tomorrow, it will be the sixth time in the last seven seasons that Mark Richt has led the Dawgs to at least 10 wins.  That's a pretty amazing streak.  And the only blip was 9-4 in 2006.
