GEORGIA FOOTBALL NOTES - 8/6/08

The hype over freshman receiver AJ Green continues (and I'm just as guilty as anyone, 'cause Dude looks great on tape).

Chip Towers of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes the following:  "I think Green may turn out to be one of Georgia's most significant signees in a while. ... Sometimes it's just very evident when a player is the real deal."

Jenna Marina, also of the AJC, shares what Green's teammates are saying about his potential.

Razorback Central provides a profile of Matthew Stafford, saying that the quarterback is "sort of like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with a much better arm."

Stafford is entering fall practice in the best physical condition of his life.

Marc Weiszer's latest notes column in The Athens Banner-Herald reveals that Mark Richt wishes he hadn't redshirted Knowshon Moreno in 2006.

Here are some more notes from practice, including some injury news.

Freshman kicker Blair Walsh isn't feeling too much pressure about being the only scholarship placekicker on a national championship contender.  I said "too much."  "There's always pressure, especially with how good this team is and how much talent there is on the team and potential.  It's pressure, but I think I'm handling it well."

And Georgia, like Florida, will have their own cover on Sports Illustrated's 2008 college preview magazine.  They'll also be ranked #1 in the nation.
