ALABAMA FOOTBALL NEWS - 9/22/08
For you Bama fans, we'll start with a look back at 10 things you might not have noticed from Alabama's 49-14 whoopin' of Arkansas.
Much to my disappointment, the battle between Terrence Cody and Jonathan Luigs never really developed. Cody wasn't on the field a great deal, due to Arkansas' spread offense.
Nick Saban's team may have secured their most decisive SEC win since 1989, but the head coach wasn't going to let it go to his team's collective head. "You really don't have to be sick to get better. Just because we won the game, we shouldn't look at it as an opportunity not to learn and grow. We made a lot of mistakes."
We'll start to get a better read of just how good Alabama is when they travel to Athens for a match-up with Georgia this Saturday. Personally, I think Georgia might be in for some trouble.
The Tide's shoddy showing against Tulane in Week Two seems to have convinced Saban's team that if they don't work hard every week, they can take a tumble. If they can keep that menality all year long, Alabama is going to be extremely dangerous.
John Parker Wilson is glad to get a shot at Georgia this weekend. "I don't think we could ask for a better situation. They're the team to beat right now in the SEC and we get a chance to face them on the road. We're looking forward to it."
According to this notes column, the Tide will be facing a "blackout" in Athens... right down to the Bulldogs' jerseys.
