Former Hog Beverley stars in ‘Hoop Dreams’ sequel

Content provided by The Slophouse.

Remember former Arkansas guard Patrick Beverley? Remember the documentary film, “Hoop Dreams,” which was nominated for an Academy Award in 1995? You know, the one that told the story of Arthur Magee. Well, it looks like Beverley’s rise (and fall?) is documented in the sequel to the film in a new documentary, “Hoop Reality.”

Beverley

The film follows Agee 15 years after “Hoop Dreams” and tells the story of Beverley, who leads Chicago Marshall to the state championship in 2006. Agee was Beverley’s mentor during the season.

The issue related to Beverley leaving the UA is still unclear. Beverley told FOXSports.com last year that it was an NCAA rules violation and that it “went over the coaches’ heads.” Could this film have something to do with that?

The trailer is below. No clue if the film follows Beverley through his college career at the University of Arkansas, or his now budding professional stint in Ukraine.

The film is set to be released in theaters March 19.

One thing is for certain — no one seems to be able to settle on a spelling Beverley’s last name. Even the Web site of his new film.

Interesting stuff.
