Auburn heads to Oxford today at 4-4, 2-3 in the conference and have outscored their opponents 151-126 on the season – a point differential of 25 points.
Ole Miss begins the day at 4-4, 2-3 in the conference and have outscored their opponents 218-193- a point differential of…25 points. Does this game sound about even to you?
For Auburn, the concern is getting their defense back on track after getting dominated by West Virginia in the second half last week. With Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville fighting for his job, Ole Miss expects a physical football game.
“(Tuberville’s) always had physical, 60-minute ballclubs,” said Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt. “You know what you’re going to get. No secrets. You know where they’re going to line up and what they’re going to do. They know what we’re going to do. It’s real football.”
Former Ole Miss coach Tuberville has never lost to Ole Miss in Oxford. This game opened this week with Ole Miss favored by four points. The line is now up to 6 1/2. I think I’ll take Auburn and the points.
