Top CB Jackson Showboats His Way To Southern Cal

PLAYER UPDATEAdoree Jackson — the top cornerback in the nation and the top player in the state of California — will be playing his college ball for Steve Sarkisian and Southern Cal.

Good riddance.

I realize that these are just kids, but the showboating some do on signing day shows — at least in this writer’s eyes — displays a me-first attitude that already takes up way too much space in today’s game.  Jackson pulled different objects out of a box and said with each pull, “Nope, that’s not where I’m going,” and “No, that’s not it.”  A Gatorade bottle represented Florida, for example.  The Gators and LSU were among the finalists for his services.

Finally he lifted a Southern Cal hat and broke into a smile.  Ha, ha.  Oh, so funny.

If Jackson let all the coaches who’d recruited him know ahead of his announcement that he was USC-bound, fine.  But here’s guessing he didn’t.  As a result, grown men who’d chased him as a prospect were left to hang on his every word and twist in the wind while he toyed with them (and the fans of all those other schools).

Who knows if Jackson is really a good kid or a showboat, but his performance today leads me to think… showboat.

John, you need to choose another profession if this gets you so worked up! Anyone whose job is tied to college sports knows you win some and you lose some in the recruiting world. Been that way for decades. You need to dial it down!! You know nothing about his parents, unless of course that you were a perfect teenager.

Youre in the wrong business, John, if this gets you so hyped. This is nothing new. Anyone who's job is tied ti college football knows you won some recruits and you lose some. Been that way for years!!!! Get over yourself.

No.  I simply stated in the piece above that the kid appeared to be a showboat.  You're the one who responded -- I'm sorry -- got "hyped up" and called me a whiner.  And now you say I need to "dial it down!"

I just gave my opinion.  Which is what this site's all about.  My opinion -- and our other writers' opinions -- on what's happening around the SEC.

The comment boxes are here for people to share their opinions.  Hopefully they'll do so in a friendly, adult manner.  You didn't.  So take a hike.

Been working on the site since 8am and it's now 11:40pm.  So your instructions to "dial it down," well, I've got some instructions I'd like to share with you if I didn't try to run a family site here.

Have a pleasant evening,

John

Whiner?

Just a punk having some fun with thousands of people's emotions.  My parents would've jerked a knot in my neck if I ever toyed with the emotions of adults whose jobs are linked to my signature.

Apparently you were as poorly raised as Jackson.

Was THAT to whiny for you?

John you're right...it's just YOUR opinion, however you are very WRONG to remotely suggest Jackson was "poorly raised" when you don't know him or his family. You should apologize for that! Lcramsey point was simply...he's a kid having fun and the fact that it may be with (as you say) "having fun" with thousands of people's emotions is not his problem...it's theirs. You know as well as I do, you can tune in or you can tune out...but to judge someone's upbringing (as if yours was right or perfect) is beneath you & I expect more from you & mrsec (this is a very informative site) and I would like to keep supporting it, as long as YOU and others don't start to "dog out" kids because YOUR father was abusive (you said it...I didn't). BTW...those adults whose jobs depend on "exploiting these kids" are making millions regardless..but you probably just gave another reason they (kids) should get paid? Hummm!

I want to be able to use my gmail account to forward blog posts to people, but for some reason Thunderbird keeps forcing me to use my college e-mail. Is there a way to change this?.

I want to start website very soon but I need to know certain costs. What factors did you have to pay for when you started up our website?.. How much was a website designer?. How much was your domain name?. What is your monthly rent for the domain name?…

    I have some question

I’m going to start a serious blog that will eventually hold a great deal of content. I am a graphic designer, and my husband does my web programming, so this is for reals (haha, yes I just said that). That being said, I’ve already started collecting…
