SEC Hoops Roundup 1/26/2014

1. Rejuvenated Willie Cauley-Stein leads Kentucky to its most lopsided win since November.  Cauley-Stein scores eight points, blocks six shots and gets a career-high six steals.

2. Georgia has to play the game without injured guards Kenny Gaines and Juwan Parker. Coach Mark Fox:  ”That had an impact on how we had to play, quite frankly.”

Vanderbilt 66 – Texas A&M 55.

3. Vanderbilt’s James Siakam scores 22 points and grabs 10 rebounds. Came into the contest averaging seven points a game.

4. Third straight loss for the Aggies after starting SEC play 3-0.  Coach Billy Kennedy: “It’s a long year, big picture is tomorrow and Monday, the next day, we’ve got to focus on one day at a time and try to get better.”

Ole Miss 82 – Mississippi State 63. Video Highlights

5. Ole Miss gets revenge for loss in Starkville two weeks ago.  Marshall Henderson scores 19 points and Rebels improve to 5-1 in the SEC.

6. Mississippi State drops to 0-4 in true road games.  Coach Rick Ray: ”Every time we go and play somebody good on the road, it’s not even a ballgame.”

Missouri 82 – South Carolina 74. Video Highlights

7. Tigers led by as many as 20 points, hang on for eight-point victory.  Missouri shoots better than 50 percent from the floor for the first time this season in SEC play.

8. South Carolina falls to 0-6 in SEC play.  Gamecocks get a season-high 32 points from Brenton Williams.

Florida 67 – Tennessee 41. Video Highlights

9. Gator defense dominant as Florida wins its 26th straight at home.  Sophomore guard Michael Frazier II led four scorers in double figures with 17 points.

10. Worst loss of the Cuonzo Martin era.  Tennessee guards Antonio Barton, Josh Richardson and Jordan McRae shot a combined 2 of 29 from the field.

Arkansas 86 – Auburn 67. Video Highlights

11. Career-high 24 points for Arkansas guard Ky Madden.  Razorbacks 7-0 against Auburn under coach Tony Barbee.

12. School-record 16th straight SEC loss for Auburn.  Tigers commit 18 turnovers.

Alabama 82 – LSU 80. 

13. Alabama gives up 19-point lead.  Needs last-minute three-point shot to seal the victory.  Coach Anthony Grant: ”I’m really, really proud of our team.”

14. LSU storms back from double-digit deficit to take late lead but can’t hang on. ”Everybody is down. We felt like we should’ve had this one.”
