Basketball season is just beginning its exhibition season, but Florida already has a lengthy list of players injured or ill. The school announced today that sophomore shooting guard Michael Frazier has been diagnosed with mononucleosis and is out indefinitely.
Frazier — who was expected to improve upon his 5.6 points-per-game average of a year ago — now makes six Gators who’ll have to work their way back from the infirmary to the hardwood. As The Gainesville Sun points out, Eli Carter (broken leg), Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle tendon sprain), Dillon Graham (sprained ankle), Damontre Harris (sprained ankle) and big man Will Yeguete (knee surgery) are all in various states of rehab.
Billy Donovan’s MASH unit will face Florida Southern in its exhibition opener on Friday.
