In its season-opening loss at Clemson, Georgia cranked out 500+ yards of total offense. Last week against what’s expected to be a stout South Carolina defense, Mike Bobo’s unit posted another 500-yard day.
According to tight end Arthur Lynch, last week’s performance should get the attention of everyone in the Southeastern Conference:
“For us to handle that defense the way we did the whole game and to finish the game the way we did sent a statement not only to South Carolina, but to the rest of the league. We can be pretty dynamic, but we can also be a tough, physical football team that can run the ball as we please as long as we play disciplined and don’t hurt ourselves.”
Georgia still has dates with LSU, Florida and five other SEC squads before anyone should start booking flights to Atlanta. Still, this UGA offense looks so potent after two weeks that the question must be asked: Is this finally the year that an offense — rather than a defense — wins the SEC?
