Auburn junior receiver Jaylon Denson injured his leg Saturday, reportedly tearing the patellar tendon in his left leg. Coach Gus Malzahn confirmed today that Denson’s season is over.
“That’s a pretty tough injury with that and that’s a big blow for our offense. He was our most consistent guy, so it’s going to have to be by-committee from here on out.”
Denson had three catches for 45 yards. Injuries are nothing new to Auburn this year. Five defensive starters have missed at least one game this season.
“Then to lose a guy like Jaylon Denson is a huge blow, but that creates opportunities for other people and the good thing is for the future is we’re playing a whole bunch of young guys and that’ll do nothing but help us for the future.”
Auburn is off this week before facing Ole Miss on October 5.
