When you’ve won back-to-back national championships, three out of five, and four of the past eight, your voice is going to be heard. When it comes to SEC Media Days, no one’s voice is as respected as Nick Saban.
For that reason, he’ll likely be hit with all the big topics of the week during his session at the podium today. Are up-tempo offenses dangerous? Is SEC scheduling fair? Etc, etc.
Saban’s opening monologue — and it was lengthy — focused mainly on how each season is a new season and the results for a team one year have little to do with the type of results that team will achieve moving forward. To further prove his point, he reminded everyone that the media at SEC Media Days has correctly picked the SEC champion just four times in the last 21 years.
“If I was 4-17 as a coach, I’d be back pumping gas at my daddy’s gas station,” he said to laughs.
And next come the questions…
