Yesterday, Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin was asked multiple times during SEC Media Days whether or not he was responsible for Johnny Manziel’s disappearance from Twitter. Each time, Sumlin grinned and said that he and the quarterback had had some discussions about Twitter and that the quarterback must have taken something from those talks.
It was clear to all who witnessed Sumlin’s handling of the question that he was suggesting, yes, he had had a little something to do with the fact that Johnny Football had been Twitter AWOL since June 15th.
Manziel was asked about the situation and he said: “I guess I haven’t said anything lately because I really haven’t had anything interesting to say.”
So what happened last evening? Manziel returned to Twitter:
So perhaps Sumlin cleared Manziel to begin tweeting again. Or maybe the coach just wanted to make it appear yesterday as though he’d played a bigger role in Manziel’s Twitter disappearance than he actually did.
Either way, Johnny Football is back in the social media game. We’ll have to wait and see whether or not that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
