SEC Hoops: Do Or Die Saturday

1. Gators have clinched outright SEC title – what’s their motivation today?  Coach Billy Donovan: “You want to be able to go into the SEC Tournament improving, getting better.”

2. Back-to-back road losses for Kentucky mean it’s do-or-die time.  John Calipari: “This is a one-game season. And it will be every game we play from here on out.”

Ole Miss at LSU

3. Ole Miss has lost five straight road games. Ole Miss forward Murphy Holloway: “Whatever we’re doing at home we need to try and take it on the road as far as defensively.”

4. Is today’s game a battle between motivated LSU and desperate Ole Miss?

South Carolina at Vanderbilt

5. Gamecocks have a chance today to do something they haven’t done all year – win two straight in SEC play.

6. Vanderbilt has no seniors to honor on senior day – so it will honor the mop guy instead.

Texas A&M at Arkansas

7. A&M coach Billy Kennedy knows today’s challenge: “Arkansas is a different team at home. They are 20 points better at home for whatever reason.”

8. No seniors departing at Arkansas, but speculation over the future of Marshawn Powell and BJ Young.

Georgia at Alabama

9. Quite a turnaround at Georgia.  Started SEC play at 1-4, now 9-8. Coach Mark Fox: “This is a relatively young basketball team. Most of our minutes are played by freshmen and sophomores.”

10. Alabama guard Andrew Steele has been playing with stress fracture in his ankle since January – will need postseason surgery.

Missouri at Tennessee

11. Missouri coach Frank Haith on the Vols: “Tennessee – hottest team in the league,” and on coach Cuonzo Martin: “I think he’s a star.”

12. Senior day at Tennessee for four Vol seniors.  Guard Jordan McRae on Missouri: “It’s going to come down to getting (defensive) stops.”

Auburn at Mississippi State

13., Battle for last place in the SEC.  Auburn coach Tony Barbee: ”If there’s anything we’re playing for, it’s to make sure we don’t finish last in our league.”

14. Seven players available to play for Mississippi State, including lone senior and walk-on Baxter Price. Coach Rick Ray: “The evolution of Baxter Price as a player has been really good to watch.”
