Maybe i'm confused but thought it was illegal for bama players to get arrested, and lawd knows it can't happen in T-Town!

First, as a Gator, will post up front that during the last couple of years of Urban Myers' tenure, the football team had its fair share of "yutes unleased". Most of us sort of blew over it, 'cause Urban was such a compelling guy on tv, looked like a guy in charge, was winning, talked a good game etc. Later we found out, not so much.

Second, what makes this story a lilttle unlike our Urban lack of adult leadership phase, the story says "right out of high school" Alabama recruits. Well, that says to me, and I could be misreading this, that those guys have not had the benefit of actually being under "control" of the coaching staff, so kind of hard to fault a coaching staff for not "controlling them," and to me, its not really a reflection of the team (have those guys been to practice yet?), more a statement of who they were before they got recruited. Coaching staffs do not "control" players in the off season, and there is not much you can do to "control" them during the season. Most of the control of players comes from discipline exhibited by the other players. Hard to go off the reservation if the juniors and seniors are watching you too. Peer presure is the most effective control a team has. That environment is fostered by coaches, but one of the hardest things to predict on the planet is what an 18 year old is going to do next.

So, third, I do not believe that 4 newbies getting together and doing something stupid and dangerous is a reflection of a program. TCU had a major drug ring running around their program for years, and it was common knowledge around town before the busts happened (after a two year investigation). That is losing "control" of a program. This is unfortunate, and news worthy, but I hesitate to draw any conclusions from it. We'll see.

I'm a Bammer, just sayin' it up front.  If this is true, kick 'em out now, with haste.  Use the incident to put the fear of God into the rest of the team.  Again, if it's true.  Arrests and mug shots don't always equate with absolute guilt.  Hanging with a single thief can get others arrested --happens all the time. Amazing what poor decisions young men can make when their heads get too big and their brains roll out their ears.

As the AL program gets "To Big to Fail" so do the players heads. This will serve as a wake up call for the rest of the team.

And none seem to be relevant players for playing time. How convenient that Saban didn't stop this before it became public. I guess that's how he planned to make the room for the class.
