Vince’s Vibe: Week 12 Picks

Vince’s Vibe – Week 12 picks

Here’s the complete schedule of SEC football games this weekend with details, analysis and a score prediction for each game.

My record last week picking SEC games was 5-2. My record after week 11, straight-up, is 78-13 (86 %.)

Schedule for Saturday, November 17

*Rankings are BCS

Arkansas (4-6, 2-4 SEC) at Mississippi State (7-3, 3-3 SEC)

12:21 p.m. ET / 11:21 a.m. CT • SEC Network

Starkville, Miss. • Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field (55,082)

Vince’s Vibe: I’m surprised Mississippi State hasn’t at least been more competitive in the tough stretch of the schedule. It lightens-up on paper again this week, but can MSU get back to the way it was playing before. I’m skeptical. If Arkansas can keep the run game going to give it balance on offense, I like the Razorbacks to pull the surprise on the road, and keep bowl aspirations alive.

Winner: Arkansas 27-26

Western Carolina (1-9) at #4 Alabama (9-1, 6-1 SEC)

12:21 p.m. ET / 11:21 am. CT • SEC Network

Tuscaloosa, Ala. • Bryant-Denny Stadium (101,821)

Vince Vibe: Thanks to this game, this is an awful week of games in the SEC.

Winner: Alabama 55-0

Jacksonville State (6-4) at #6 Florida (9-1, 7-1 SEC)

1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. CT •  Florida PPV

Gainesville, Fla. • Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field (88,548)

Vince Vibe: Thanks to this game, this is an awful week of games in the SEC.

Winner: Florida 41-3

Wofford (8-2) at #9 South Carolina (8-2, 6-2 SEC)

1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. CT • South Carolina PPV

Columbia, S.C. • Williams-Brice Stadium (80,250)

Vince Vibe: Thanks to this game, this is an awful week of games in the SEC.

Winner: South Carolina 38-10

Alabama A&M (7-3) at Auburn (2-8, 0-7 SEC)

2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT • Auburn PPV

Auburn, Ala. • Jordan-Hare Stadium / Pat Dye Field (87,451)

Vince Vibe: Thanks to this game, this is an awful week of games in the SEC.

Winner: Auburn 31-20

Georgia Southern (8-2) at #5 Georgia (9-1, 7-1 SEC)

3:30 p.m. ET / 2:30 p.m. CT • Georgia PPV

Athens, Ga. • Sanford Stadium (92,746)

Vince Vibe: Thanks to this game, this is an awful week of games in the SEC.

Winner: Georgia 42-21

Ole Miss (5-5, 2-4 SEC) at #7 LSU (8-2, 4-2 SEC)

3:30 p.m. ET / 2:30 p.m. CT • CBS Sports

Baton Rouge, La. • Tiger Stadium (92,542)

Vince’s Vibe: With the exception of last year, Ole Miss historically gives better LSU teams fits. Ole Miss will compete and bust some plays early, but LSU is too good defensively and too physical for the Rebels over four quarters. Plus, the Tigers are tough to beat at home.

Winner: LSU 34-17

Sam Houston State (8-2) at #8 Texas A&M (8-2, 5-2 SEC)

3:30 p.m. ET / 2:30 p.m. CT • Texas A&M PPV

College Station, Texas • Kyle Field (82,589)

Vince Vibe: Thanks to this game, this is an awful week of games in the SEC.

Winner: Texas A&M 59-20

Tennessee (4-6, 0-6 SEC) at Vanderbilt (6-4, 4-3 SEC)

7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT • ESPN2

Nashville, Tenn. • Vanderbilt Stadium  (40,350)

Vince’s Vibe: Vanderbilt is playing well, and will be highly motivated to beat the state school from East Tennessee. Derek Dooley’s job status has far over-shadowed this game in public discussion. I think Vandy is a smarter and better coached football team. WR Jordan Matthews will have a huge day (150 + yards receiving) for the ‘Dores. Vandy’s secondary should help VU get enough stops against the high-powered Volunteers passing game to get the win. Expect Vandy to play from ahead and open things up on the scoreboard late.

Winner: Vanderbilt 37-21

Syracuse (5-5) at Missouri (5-5, 2-5 SEC)

7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT • ESPNU

Columbia, Mo. • Memorial Stadium / Faurot Field (71,004)

Vince’s Vibe: What an impressive come-from-behind win for Mizzou last week at Tennessee. Yes, Derek Dooley’s decisions and Tennessee’s bad defense late in the game helped, but Mizzou still needed to make plays. Mizzou did that in the clutch. It was the first SEC road win for the Tigers. Will Syracuse have a hang-over after hammering previously unbeaten Louisville last week. I think so. This should be a shoot-out.

Winner: Missouri 42-38

Samford (7-3) at Kentucky (1-9, 0-7 SEC)

7:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. CT  • CSS

Lexington, Ky. • Commonwealth Stadium / C.M. Newton Field (67,942)

Vince Vibe: Thanks to this game, this is an awful week of games in the SEC.

Winner: Kentucky 34-10

Weeks like this in the SEC and college football allow me to reiterate my stance that all non-conference games should be in the first month of the season, with the rest of the season being conference play. That would open-up non-conference scheduling options to everyone. Teams won’t be able to hide behind lack of scheduling options, and there won’t be a need to schedule FCS opponents for paid beat-downs. I’ve heard the excuses against it, and they are all lame. I know it won’t happen, but it should because it is what’s best for the sport, television and the fans.
