Mathieu and former LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson were charged with simple possession of marijuana, according to WAFB in Baton Rouge, La.
Derrick Bryant was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana while Karnell Hatcher was charged with second offense simple possession of marijuana.
The arrests occurred following a search of Mathieu’s apartment, according to police. Inside Mathieu’s apartment were a marijuana grinder, digital scale and 10 bags of high grade marijuana, police said.
Mathieu, who was dismissed from the LSU football team before the season for reportedly failing multiple drug tests, has held out hope of returning to the Tigers next season. LSU coach Les Miles hinted at a possible return earlier this month.
“There is a very legitimate chance this will have a happy ending,” Miles said at the time. “I think the point of degree, and the point of handling your business and making sure everything is right and correct, and getting your feet on the ground – I think that is a tremendously happy ending.”
That makes this another disappointing turn in Mathieu’s career.
