In the “no kidding” department, Les Miles summed up his team’s issues yesterday by saying it’s time to run and throw the ball better. No shock. In SEC games only, LSU ranks 11th in the league in both rushing and passing the football. That’s not championship-calibre offensive production by any stretch.
But the coach also said — in his inimitable style — that the Tigers aren’t planning a move from Zach Mettenberger to a more mobile-type quarterback to help in those areas.
“Our football team is going through some changes. We need to play better in a number of ways. It is not an effort thing. I enjoyed my team’s effort. We have to play smarter and with a wisdom that allows us to use the advantages that we were given in that game. In our view, we have to run it and throw it better…
We’re not so prone to discard (Mettenberger) for a mobile quarterback. We just need to make sure we get the ball to the guy that has it coming, who by strategy the defense has left not as well covered. We need to catch it and advance the ball. If we do those things, we’ll be fine.”
Is there any chance of working Miles into the next two presidential debates? Neither guy tells the truth half the time anyway, so why not just go for entertainment? No one would be as entertaining in a debate format than Miles.
Except maybe this guy:
