Hogs’ Leading Tackler Highsmith Done For The Season

Arkansas linebacker and leading tackler Alonzo Highsmith will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury according to John L. Smith. The coach said Highsmith suffered ligament damage to the foot in the first half against Auburn and he’s had surgery done today.

So much for a positive bounce from the Razorbacks’ gritty 24-7 win over the Tigers on Saturday. In addition to Highsmith’s injury, defensive end/linebacker Tenarius Wright is undergoing an MRI on his shoulder today and his status moving forward is also in question.

Add Arkansas to the list of teams — Kentucky, LSU, Missouri — who’ve simply been overwhelmed with injury issues this season. For those who don’t want to see BCS-level schools play nine, 10 or 11 games against other BCS-level schools, here’s an argument for you to make — too many injuries.
