SEC Headlines – 9/24/12


1.  Auburn DB Demetruce McNeal on the attitude of the Tiger defense: “‘You think we’re soft?’  OK, we’re going to show you.”

2.  Alabama is now ready for some tougher tests… and Ole miss will be the next foe up.

3.  A record night from Cobi Hamilton (303 yards receiving is an SEC all-time high) wasn’t enough to stop Arkansas’ slide.  That makes it “salvage” time in Fayetteville.

4.  LSU — which fell from #3 to #2 in the Coaches Poll this week — is running out of time to fix its penalty/turnover mistakes.

5.  Dan Mullen on his Mississippi State Bulldogs: “We still haven’t played our complete game yet in all three phases.”

6.  Ole Miss has some confidence heading into its SEC opener versus top-ranked Bama.

7.  Texas A&M is “good enough” to win its next three games, but the Aggies will have to improve before facing Alabama and LSU.



8.  Will Muschamp on his undefeated team’s open date: “We’re going to work on Florida, #1… We need to improve ourselves.”

9.  Georgia’s on a roll.  (In fact, they’re firing on all cylinders.)  Tennessee is not.  But the Dawgs say they’re still wary of the Vols.

10.  There’s still a path for Kentucky to turn things around.

11.  Steve Spurrier on Connor Shaw’s 20-of-21 passing performance against Missouri: “Connor got off to a slow start.  He missed his first one.  He was sensational.”

12.  Tennessee has a chance to redeem its Florida performance at unbeaten Georgia this weekend… but the Vols have been more road kill than road warriors the last few years.

13.  Vanderbilt’s lack of size is becoming a big problem for the Commodores.
