Cannot believe Shaw will play. That was one hurting Gamecock at half time, and he came back out and took MORE shots. Said it before, if this kid comes back on the field and performs well, he has a superman tatoo on him. I have pretty strong opinions about playing college students when they are banged up enough they lose the ability to protect themselves, and Shaw looked to me like he was in that category last week. Oh well, no one pays me millions to make those decisions.
Whether or not South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw plays on Saturday against East Carolina could be a gametime decision according to Steve Spurrier. The Gamecock coach talked about Shaw’s bruised right (throwing) shoulder on today’s SEC conference call:
“We’ll just have to wait and see. If he can’t throw the ball very well, we don’t want him running around, and every time he gets hit it looks like he’s in deep pain. We’re not going to have that. I don’t know if he’s going to be able to play or not. He thinks he’ll be ready by gametime, but I’ll have to make the call depending on how he feels right then and if he’s able to make all the throws. That’s what we have to base it on…
We’ll take it all the way up to gametime. He’s going to dress out, that’s for sure.”
Shaw was knocked out of Carolina’s opening night game with Vanderbilt last Thursday before he returned to lead the team to a 17-13 victory in Nashville.
