Defensive tackle Marquel Combs from Pierce Community College in Woodland Hills, Calif., has decommitted from Ole Miss.
Combs is planning to graduate from Pierce in December but has to take “a lot of classes” to play at an SEC school, he told the Jackson Clarion-Ledger.
Combs said his recruiting attention will focus on the Big Ten, Big 12 or Pac 12. But he said he will continue communication with the Ole Miss staff in case something changes with his academics.
“We are going to stay in contact and keep a relationship in case something goes wrong and I have to stay for the spring,” Combs said. “If I have to stay for another semester, I’ll go to Ole Miss.”
Combs is ranked the nation’s No. 2 junior college prospect for the 2013 class by 247Sports.
