Defensive back Priest Willis from Tempe, Ariz., plans to take an unofficial visit to LSU on Friday.
Willis, who’s also considering Nebraska, Notre Dame and Southern California, has been recruited heavily by LSU since early in the recruiting process.
“I’m going to be looking at the atmosphere around the (LSU) campus,” Willis told 247Sports about his upcoming visit. “I hope to check out the academic side of things. Also, I really want to see what college would be like in the South. I’m looking forward to it.”
Willis has looked at the possibility of playing at the same school as safety Tahaan Goodman from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. LSU has continued to pursue Goodman. Still, Willis said his decision won’t be based on Goodman’s recruitment.
“We want to play football together at the next level,” Willis said, “but at the same time we aren’t going to force anything if it doesn’t work out. We aren’t going to go to a school just because we want to play together. If the same college suits us then that is where we will go. But really it won’t have that much of an impact.”
Both players could make a large impact at the next level. Willis is ranked the nation’s third-best cornerback and No. 23 overall prospect by 247Sports. The site considers Goodman to be the nation’s No. 6 safety 51st-best prospect overall.
