Quarterback Christian Hackenberg from Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy committed to Penn State on Wednesday.
Hackenberg chose the Nittany Lions over offers from Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and others.
Hackenberg, who is Penn State’s first commitment for the class of 2013, is originally from Pennsylvania and still has ties to the area and Penn State football.
“He grew up around it,” Eric Hackenberg, Christian’s father, told ESPN.com.
