Alabama forwards JaMychal Green and Tony Mitchell remain suspended indefinitely and won’t play against Tennessee on Saturday.
Alabama coach Anthony Grant told the media Friday afternoon that he plans to meet with Green and Mitchell next week before he evaluates each player’s status.
Green, who leads Alabama with 14.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, hasn’t played since Feb. 7 at Auburn. Mitchell, the Crimson Tide’s second-leading scorer with 13.1 points per game, has been absent since Alabama’s game against Ole Miss on Feb. 4.
Junior guard Andrew Steele, who was suspended on Saturday against LSU before being reinstated earlier in the week, credited Grant for his discipline of the team and said Green and Mitchell are understanding of their situations.
“They’re staying positive,” Steele said. “They understand it’s the coach’s decision.”
Alabama (16-9, 5-6 SEC) has lost two straight games and six of its last nine games. The Crimson Tide remain in contention for an NCAA Tournament bid but need a quick turnaround to keeps those hopes alive.
