Former Alabama and NFL offensive lineman Chris Samuels is returning to Tuscaloosa as an offensive graduate assistant. The Washington Post reported yesterday that Samuels — who was a coaching intern on the Redskins staff last season — has “accepted an assistant coaching position with his alma mater.”
Usually, we don’t give pub to every grad assistant that enters the league, but The Post’s story led some to believe Samuels would join the Tide as a full-time coach… which would mean someone else would have to go. Not so.
“They’ll pay for me to finish my degree, and I’ll be able to learn from some great coaches over there at Alabama,” Samuels said. “It’s a huge opportunity for me.”
