Petrino Doesn’t Recall Why He Tossed F-Bombs Toward LSU’s Bench Last Month

Asked over the weekend about the much-publicized cursing exhibition he put on late in LSU’s win over Arkansas last month, Bobby Petrino said he’s not sure what caused his temperature to rise.

“That was a long time ago to be honest with you, you don’t recall things like that.  I was told about it.  Obviously, I’ve got to be more aware of my actions and my language.

We’ll work on improving that.”

As a refresher for the coach, LSU had just tacked on a field goal to go up 41-17 with five minutes to go.  Petrino pointed across the field and let the F-bombs fly.  After the game, he cold-shouldered Les Miles, as well.

Since the incident, Arkansas AD Jeff Long has expressed his dissatisfaction with CBS for showing a slow-motion replay of the tirade… even though CBS and ESPN have caught and aired curses from Nick Saban, Will Muschamp and others this past season.

Interestingly, on December 5th, Long was asked if he’d addressed the issue with Petrino.  He said the two had had a conversation.  But Petrino said this weekend that he hadn’t spoken to Long about the tirade.

Well.  Long just said they’d had a conversation.  He never said about what.

Yawn.............It's like an inside edition story that wont die. Or some political screw up on the road to the white house. That gets brought up 500 times, once a week. But nobody cares.

Although not everyone curses, many do. Petrino and the entire Razorback nation had a bad week that had little to do with the game. Garret Uekman passed away earlier that week and just maybe the emotions of the week(and the game) caused the outburst. I am not going to cast any stones against Petrino. CBS and ESPN did that already.

John,

What are your thoughts on Arkansas' new Defensive Coordinator?

@PBHogg He will probably like him until he points at someone. THis seems to get you a story every week until the next football season.

Tell it to the Arkansas papers who asked Petrino for his comments.

Thanks for reading,

@John at MrSEC I have to side with John on this one. The papers should not have dug that up. It's not like there was a shortage of things they could ask about: new OC, new DC, recruiting, bowl game, etc.

That said, Petrino mentioned that he would work on it. Whether or not he's spoken privately to Miles--the only person owed an apology if he was to apologize--since the incident is no one's business.

@John at MrSEC Correct, but it was a small blip in a 20 minute news conference about the new DC. It's also been reported here that the outburst was caused by the LSU players taunting the hogs on the field about the unexpected player death during the week and that it was done with Miles blessing........I will say this, I have watched Bobby Petrino very closely every game over the past 4 years and there is alot more to this story than a field goal and a pass into the end zone....FWIW.

What legitimate source reported that Les Miles had his players taunt Arkansas over the death of a player?

Good Lord. That's the biggest heap of BS I've ever seen... and I've seen some really dumb things in comment boxes and on messageboards.

That's totally ridiculous.
