Carolina’s Clowney Keeps Improving

The top recruit in the country last year, freshman defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has played up to the hype at South Carolina this fall.  He is second on the team with five sacks and he’s tops on the team in forced fumbles.

But he’s still getting better, according to defensive line coach Brad Lawing:

“He’s got so much room for improvement.  He’s just touching the surface right now.  It’s very exciting, because as he learns to practice consistently day to day to day, he’s going to keep getting better.  He still hasn’t learned how to do that like he needs to.  He’ll have a good day of practice and then sometimes a not-so-good day.  But when you learn to ply your trade day in, day out, the entire time you’re out there, that’s when you really make big jumps of improvement.”

In SEC games, Clowney also ranks 10th in the league in the tackles for loss category as well as sixth in sacks.
