SEC Headlines – 10/4/11

It’s going to be a short day today because I’m going to be away from the laptop.  Josh Ward and Mike Mitchell will be keeping an eye out for breaking news, however.

Here are some quickie headlines from around the league:

1.  Will Muschamp has praise for LSU, but he expects his Florida program to “do a better job of coaching and playing” than it did last week.

2.  Georgia is happy to be tied for first-place in the East three games into the SEC season.

3.  Joker Phillips says Kentucky misses no one more than Mike Hartline this year.  (Morgan Newton must love hearing that.)

4.  Connor Shaw — for now — looks to be the starting quarterback when South Carolina faces UK.  (Steve Spurrier says the plan is for Shaw to play the whole game.)

5.  Defensive tackle Malik Jackson is ready to show Georgia “what Tennessee really has to offer.”

6.  Vanderbilt’s James Franklin would like to get some points from his defense against Alabama this weekend.

7.  Alabama’s Trent Richardson is keeping his name in the Heisman mix.

8.  Like everyone else who plays Arkansas, Auburn will be looking to pressure the quarterback on Saturday.

9.  Injuries are mounting for the Razorbacks.

10.  Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee continue to say all the right things in Baton Rouge.

11.  Dan Mullen blames MSU’s running woes on poor execution.

12.  Houston Nutt knows that had Ole Miss lost to Fresno State, the negative talk about his program during its bye week would have been “bad, no question.”
