That interception was probably the craziest I have ever yelled in my life at a football game. I remember how bitterly cold it got late in the evening and that it felt like we just could not stop the Gators from moving the ball. I have no doubts that Shane Mathews would have driven the length of the field on us as they were moving the ball with ease in the 4th quarter. Legion Field was an absolute madhouse after that INT. Langham's interception was one of many heroics he had that year, along with Teague and the rest of that #1 defense on the way to the 92 National Championship. The Gators gave us the toughest game that we had that year and there were a couple. Great memories. RTR
ESPNU’s latest “Storied” documentary on the SEC focuses on the league’s first championship game which was played in 1992. At a site called MrSEC.com, we obviously understand just how big a role the SEC’s title game has played in the transformation of college football, athletic conferences and television contracts.
Still, this trailer might be just a hair over the top.
The show itself looks like it will be great. No question about that one. Bringing the old players back together for a reenactment of the game’s key play is brilliant.
But world-changing? I’m guessing a few more folks remember Bill Clinton, Kurt Cobain, Rodney King and the LA riots than SEC Championship Game #1. Folks outside Alabama and Florida at least.
