SEC Headlines – 9/9/11 Part One

1.  Florida’s in the middle of a major youth movement.

2.  Forward Erik Murphy has been reinstated to the Gator basketball team… Cody Larson has not.

3.  Win or lose on Saturday, can Mark Richt ever feel safe again at Georgia?  (Our take: Nope.  Once you lose a large chunk of the fanbase, only a national title can get them back.  A win over Carolina would matter only until the Dawgs’ next loss.)

4.  Things have changed to the point that South Carolina will have the proven star power in Athens tomorrow, not Georgia.

5.  Kentucky football ticket sales are down about 6% this year.

6.  UK’s Winston Guy is the “Hybrid Guy” in Rick Minter’s defense.

7.  Carolina’s Marcus Lattimore won’t be able to sneak up on Georgia this year.

8.  This writer believes USC is stronger on both lines than UGA.  (No argument here.)

9.  Derek Dooley points out that Cincinnati won’t be the only team using the spread on Saturday… Tennessee just doesn’t run its QB from that formation.

10.  Vol basketballers know to bring intensity for Cuonzo Martin.

11.  Football and basketball success will be the measure of new UT AD Dave Hart.  (Just like every other AD in the country.)

12.  Vanderbilt would like to beat UConn tomorrow and mimic their success overall.

13.  Cornerback Casey Hayward wants to be a playmaker on both sides of the ball.
