SEC Headlines – 9/27/11 Part Two

1.  Alabama tailback Trent Richardson is one of Florida’s top concerns this week.

2.  John Brantley’s numbers are comparable to his September, 2010 numbers… but the Gator offense is better as a whole.

3.  The attrition continues at Georgia, this time in the Dawgs’ secondary.

4.  Todd Grantham’s defense is #5 in the nation when it comes to stopping third-down conversions.

5.  Through four games, Isaiah Crowell is one pace with Herschel Walker’s start.  (Now that’s called jumping the gun.)

6.  Joker Phillips says he and UK have “a dragon to slay” Saturday in Baton Rouge.

7.  Defensive tackle Mark Crawford will be in the lineup for the Cats after serving a four-game suspension.

8.  Steve Spurrier says Auburn “is a completely different team” this year.

9.  Carolina’s secondary depth could finally get a boost with the return of Brison Williams.

10.  Tennessee’s Rajion Neal is getting comfortable at the receiver spot.

11.  Juco transfer Izauea Lanier will start at corner for the Vols this weekend.

The Wall St Journal had a hilarious piece yesterday on the SEC. Some really good satire ... I don't want to go posting links, but it might be worthy of making the newsfeed.

Reading it though, I started to wonder when the SEC will "peak" in football. It's almost like the dot com craze a decade ago ... right when everyone was partying the hardest, things started to unravel. I hope that doesn't happen, but historically, "strong conferences" have been cyclical.

Anyway, I really enjoy reading this site. Good work.

"Now that’s called jumping the gun."

No, not at all. The writer very carefully said that he wasn't saying that Crowell is "the next Herschel." He's simply pointing out that at this point the statistics are very similar. It doesn't get more cut and dry than that.

Boise didn't face that many 3rd downs when facing Georgia, but I guess it is good that the Dawgs held them when they did face them.

Richardson will travel in style.. Have you seen his new wheeels posted on outkick the coverage and sports by brooks... WOW

H-Town Dawg...

You're right. Perfectly reasonable to compare a player in his fourth game to a hall of famer.
