Richt Says Carolina Game “Important,” Not “Must Win”

Mark Richt got the question everyone knew was coming on the SEC teleconference today. In fact, he got it twice.

Yesterday, Richt referred to Saturday’s contest with South Carolina as “an important game.” Today, a South Carolina reporter asked him if it was a must-win game for him personally.

Mark Weiszer of The Athens Banner-Herald provides details on how the exchange progressed from there:

“‘Didn’t I just say it’s a really important game?’ Richt said.

‘But do you think it’s a must-win?’ the reporter said.

‘I think it’s a really important game,’ Richt said. ‘Do you want to ask me again? Because you can and I’ll give you the same answer. OK?’”

OK.
