Dooley’s Orange Pants Cost Nearly 1500 Bucks

Just an interesting little blurb between headline pieces today — Derek Dooley’s bright orange pants were custom made for the coach at a price of $1,423.32.

Yeah.  Fifteen-hundred bucks for orange slacks.

Who knew the folks who make $100 hammers for the US military had a clothing division?

No word on whether Dooley will wear his tangerine trousers to The Swamp tomorrow.

UPDATE – The Knoxville paper that reported the cost of Dooley’s pants as being $1,423.32 has now posted a correction.  Someone at the paper misread the paperwork on the slacks.  The maker of the pants won’t say how much they cost, but they did say they cost less than $1,400.

You need to take this post down. Here is the update posted by MetroPulse:

UPDATE: It turns out that 4 in the picture above is actually a "y", and Derek Dooley's pants required 1 yard and 23.32 inches of fabric. According to the KNS sports editor (who now totally hates me), a salesman at John H. Daniel declined to say how much the pants actually cost, but that they were less than $1,400.

I generally hate orange on principle, but if Dooley's britches get Tennessee back to being talked about then that just means he's doing his job. Recruits like random stuff like that. Good luck to the Vols this weekend. Will be pulling for them against the Gators.

There is actually a video of the making of the pants.

dont let fact-checking get in the way of a good headline. and don't bother taking down a false story with a good headline.

they've updated their article. it wasnt 1423, it was 1y23, meaning 1 yard 23 inches of fabric.
