Writer: FSU Would Be Middle Of The Pack In The SEC

Unless your Ohio State, Southern Cal, Texas or Oklahoma, the SEC is not for you.  That seems to be the general consensus among writers covering schools that might have draw some expansion interest from the SEC.

Many in Texas say that Texas A&M will become dog food when/if it enters the SEC.  Mike Bianchi of The Orlando Sentinel says basically the same thing about Florida State, should the Seminoles draw some SEC attention.

“In the ACC, even during their down years, the Seminoles have the highest profile, the most fans and biggest budget.  If they were in the SEC, according to the latest statistics, FSU would be eighth in total athletic budget, eighth in booster contributions and seventh in stadium size.

To compete in the SEC, FSU would need to spend more and contribute more to keep up in a big-boy league that has won the last five national championships.  In the ACC, the Seminoles already have the resources to potentially dominate the league and become an elite program once again.”

According to Bianchi, those points are ulitimately moot, however, because he doesn’t believe that FSU wants the SEC or that the SEC wants FSU.
