UGA Backup DE Lott Out 4-6 Weeks After Scooter Accident

Over the past two years, Georgia has had two players miss game or practice time after injuring themselves in scooter accidents.  And now you can make it three players in three years.

Backup defensive end Derrick Lott suffered “a deep laceration to his right calf” after a scooter crash on Tuesday.  The injury was so bad that Lott required surgery and will be out of action for four to six weeks — right on the eve of fall practice.

Considering the attrition Georgia is enduring across its roster, the loss of any player — even a backup — is worrisome at this point.  UGA is running out of bodies.

Lott made seven tackles in three games for the Dawgs last year.  He is listed as second team on UGA’s preseason depth chart.

Think Mark Richt is thumbing through the Book of Job right about now?
