Georgia Defensive Back Chooses South Carolina

Defensive back Rico McWilliams from Lovejoy High School in Hampton, Ga., committed to South Carolina on Thursday.

McWilliams chose the Gamecocks over offers from Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Purdue and South Florida. He gave his commitment to South Carolina defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward.

It just felt like the timing was right to do it,” McWilliams told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Coach Ward knew I loved the school and had been on for me awhile about committing. It’s my school. It was the time to do it.”

Williams is the seventh prospect to commit to South Carolina’s class of 2012. Four of those prospects are from the state of Georgia.
