Georgia Adds Four Members To 2012 Class

Georgia had a busy recruiting weekend with four commitments for the class of 2012.

Teammates James Deloach and Jonathan Taylor from Jenkins County High School in Millen, Ga., made commitments to Georgia after taking unofficial visits to Athens during the weekend.

Yes, it’s UGA,” Taylor told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We picked Georgia because it’s a good place with good coaches that are good people. It’s not too far away from home. The place just stood out to us.”

Taylor will play defensive tackle at Georgia. DeLoach projects to play linebacker or defensive end.

Georgia’s two other commitments came from fullback Quayvon Hicks from Blackshear, Ga., and punter Colin Barber from Cartersville, Ga.

Hicks chose Georgia over several schools recruiting him to play defensive end.

Barber made the commitment after receiving a scholarship offer this weekend. Barber punted well in front of Georgia’s coaches, according to Cartersville High School coach Frank Barden.

“He punted very well on Saturday,” Barden told the AJC. “He had about 25 punts, including about 5-6 with a hang time of 5 seconds or more. He had a good workout. Coach Richt took Colin and his mother off the side afterwards and made the offer.”

Georgia has 10 commitments for the class of 2012.
