Ex-MSU Guard Johnson Says Suspension Helped Him

Former Mississippi State guard Ravern Johnson says he’s a better player now than he was during his senior season in Starkville.  In fact, he says his turnaround began with an in-season suspension from Rick Stansbury this past year:

“During the suspension, I had time to sit back and think about a lot of things.  I was wrong about the things that I did, and when I got back to the team I was just real happy and wanted to show them that I wanted to win as much as they did, and to try and do everything in my power to let us win.

Most of the (NBA) teams were talking about that, saying they really liked that.”

Johnson was briefly suspended in February after making negative comments about the coaching staff and the MSU program on Twitter following a loss.
