“We’ve played on the same football teams our whole lives and want to do the same in college,” Evan told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
They have plenty of time to make that call. The younger brothers of former Tennessee and current Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry will be sophomores at Creekside High School in Fairburn, Ga., this fall.
People naturally wonder if Evan and Elliott will choose Tennessee, where their father, James Berry, also played. They both like UT (Evan actually committed to the Vols while he was in middle school), but they insist there’s no pressure to choose UT.
“My brother is his own person; we’re going to make our own decisions,” Elliott said. “Our brother and our sad want us to pick the school that is the best fit for us. It may be Tennessee or it may be another school. We’ll just have to see.”
Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Nebraska, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin have all said scholarship offers will be waiting for both players, according to Creekside coach Johnny White. He said they plan to visit Alabama, Auburn and Georgia this summer.
There will be plenty of media coverage of the Berry twins for the next three years. It shouldn’t surprise them – they’ve received attention since Eric arrived at UT in 2007. Here’s an interview from two years ago when they were in the seventh grade.
